Sunset Resorts Reports No Structural Damage

We've just received more good news from Sunset Resorts with locations in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Negril:

Montego Bay, JAMAICA (August 20, 2007) - On August 19, 2007, Hurricane Dean skirted the south coast of Jamaica. Sunset Resorts, operators of Sunset Beach Resort & Spa in Montego Bay, Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios and Sunset at the Palms in Negril and Sunset, have made assessments of all three of the company's North Coast properties:

Disruptions to the island's electrical supply have necessitated the use of the hotels‚ stand-by generators. It is expected that the island's electrical service will be restored on a phased basis occurring as early as this afternoon.

Due to the disruption of airline flight operating schedules, it is strongly recommended that all arriving guests should contact their airline to re-confirm their flights.

Sunset Resorts maintains a detailed Hurricane Preparedness Plan, which went into effect as soon as the threat of the storm was announced. Staff and management at all three properties had taken all precautions to keep guests safe, comfortable, and well informed. As such, all went smoothly.

"The security and comfort of our guests and our staff was our priority. Our management team and staff have taken all precautionary and prudent measures to ensure their safety," said Sunset Resorts Managing Director Ian Kerr. "We are extremely grateful that we didn't suffer any structural damage from Dean and that our guests and staff weathered the storm safely. Guests are in good spirits and certainly respect our classic Jamaican hospitality during this time and we look forward to receiving guests with future reservations."
