Jamaica offers activities for all fitness levels and interests. Across the island, look for these opportunities:

On Land

Biking Jamaica offers all types of terrain for bikers, from plains to mountain roads. A downhill ride in the Blue Mountains is available for all fitness levels.

Birding Jamaica may be the land of sun and fun, but it’s a birders’ paradise as well. An excellent destination for either the beginner or the advanced birder, it has over 250 bird species, including 21 sub-species found nowhere else on the planet.

Canopy Tours You'll feel like you're flying through the trees with one of these canopy tours; ziplines allow visitors to buzz from tree to tree.

Caving Thanks to the limestone that makes up much of Jamaica, the island has over 1,100 caves. Some, such as the Nonsuch Cave near Port Antonio and Green Grotto near Runaway Bay, offer guided tours, but for the most part the caves are for real adventure travelers who want to explore independently.

Golf Golfing options in Jamaica can fill a site of their own. The island is home to several top-notch, well-respected courses that are both challenging and beautiful. The best-known courses are found in the Montego Bay area.

Hiking Looking for a hiking adventure? You’re in the right place. Jamaica has a full range of hikes, from rainforest jaunts to valley hikes to mountain climbs. Some of the most challenging hikes are found in the Blue Mountains.

Horseback Riding With its long British association, Jamaica has a history of horses both for polo and for recreational riding, and several operators run guided rides. Jamaica is also home to the Caribbean’s top polo facility.

Off-Roading Guided jeep tour, offers access to areas you wouldn’t otherwise be able to reach.

On the Water

Fishing Regardless of your experience level, you can arrange a fishing jaunt. There are half- and full-day excursions; most include services of a captain and crew as well as all tackle and bait. The hunt is for game fish: white marlin, wahoo, blue marlin and dolphin (no, not the Flipper variety). The blue marlin is the most prized catch. Real angling fans can take part in one of several fishing tournaments. The Port Antonio International Blue Marlin Tournament is one of the best-known in the Caribbean.

Rafting From lazy river rides on bamboo rafts to inner tube rides to whitewater thrills, Jamaica's rivers offer a mixture of experiences.

Scuba Diving Jamaica isn’t a scuba diving capital like the nearby Cayman Islands, but there are many good spots to explore. At all the major resort areas, you’ll find scuba operators that offer a variety of day and night dives.
