Getting Around Ocho Rios

The best way to get around Ocho Rios is by taxi. Look for red license plates that begin with the letters "PP"--this indicates that this is a legitimate taxis. (There are many freelance, nonlicensed taxis in Jamaica.)

Taxis are not inexpensive, however. Try to combine excursions when possible and always find out if tour operators include pickup from your hotel (most do if you're staying in the area.)

We don't recommend renting a car in Ocho Rios, especially if it's your first visit. Remember, you'll need to drive on the left side of the road and Jamaica's roads are packed with fast-driving, aggressive drivers who will pass passing cars (we are not kidding).
