What to do

Dolphin Cove at Treasure Reef
Ocho Rios, Jamaica

This incredibly popular dolphin swim program is located near Dunn's River Falls. One of the most popular shore excursions with cruise ship passengers in Jamaica, the swim program fills up quickly so make reservations early (before your trip if possible) to assure yourself of a place.

Along with dolphin swims, Dolphin Cove offers lower-priced dolphin encounters for ages eight and up; dolphin touch programs for ages six and over; or just admission to the grounds, which also includes a short (not so great) nature walk.

Dolphin Cove also offers shark swims and stingray swims (the rays have been debarbed) as well as paddle boats, kayaks, and snorkeling.

JamaicaTripper Tip: If one person in your party is doing the dolphin swim, don't plan to photograph them. The Cove has a photographer and videographer shooting each swim and you won't be able to go out to shoot.

JamaicaTripper Tip: Leave jewelry and valuables back at your hotel room. You won't be able to wear them on your swim.

Price: This is not an inexpensive program; swims cost as much as $195, depending on your level of involvement with the dolphins.
