Festival Recipe, Sandals Resorts

4 ounces stone ground golden meal
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh vanilla beans
1/2 cup milk
2 ounces refined sugar
8 ounces corn oil
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 ounces self rising flour

Combine flour, meal, baking powder, and spices. Warm milk and add sugar and vanilla. Add vanilla milk to meal mixture to form a soft dough. Shape into small strips. Heat oil and deep fry. Yields five 2 ounce portions.
