Bun

An Easter favorite

3 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 pint stout
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup mixed fruit or raisins
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt butter or margarine over low heat. Add stout and sugar, stir while sugar dissolves Remove from heat and set aside.

Mix flour, baking powder and spices. Mix with egg. Add stout mixture and stir. Add raisins or mixed fruit and stir to make stiff dough.

Shape dough into loaves; bake in greased tins at 350 degrees until done (about one hour).
